My Semester Long project will be entitled 24 hours in 24 days. Although there are 24 hours in a day, my project will take me 24 days for it to be accomplished. This is because my intentions for my project is to take four pictures on a certain hour on one day from the east, south, west and north of wherever I am, and another set of pictures at the next hour on the next day.
To elaborate more, I will be using the 24 hour clock format. Therefore on Monday at 13:00 (1pm) I will take the four pictures whilst on Tuesday the pictures will be taken at 14:00 (2pm), Wednesday, at 15:00 (3pm) and so on until I get to 24. My inspiration is my brain for constructing this idea and the purpose of the project will probably be to illustrate where I am during certain time in a day and my surroundings.
I will most likely modify this project various times but as of now this is the proposal and it’s a project, am looking forward to commencing on.

Redraft of my SLP - First Proposal:
ReplyDelete24 Hours in 24 Days
This project will take me 24 days for it to be accomplished. I will be taking four pictures each day on a certain hour. The pictures taken will be of whatever is on my right side, back, left side, and front (rotating a full circle – similar to a clock) wherever I am. Another set of four pictures will be taken during the following hour on the following day.
I will be using the 24 hour clock format. The intention of this project is to keep a picture journal of my surroundings and to illustrate where I am during certain time of the day.
In regards to text, I have not decided if the time will be displayed on all the pictures but I do know that I do want them shown on some of the pictures.
SLP Second Proposal:
ReplyDeleteMiscoloring
Human emotions and moods have been linked to colors with assigned meanings.
I plan to use 10 colors with their meanings such as red has a lot of meanings associated with it but for example if I used love to represent red, the model will then have some thing red (clothes/accessories). However, the picture will be in black and white but the clothes/accessories will still have its color.
I will also be inserting text on the picture in color to match the specific color I’m working on, so for this example, the text color will be red but the twist is the actual text will read blue. The pose of the model will also illustrate a blue mood. Therefore the pose and the text will match whilst the color of the clothes will match the color used for the text. My aim for this project is to portray that you can wear any color and have other conflicting moods that are not related to the precise color you are wearing. Therefore, each color is going to have the opposite color text insert on the picture.
So i have decided to do the 24 hours in 24 days project because a lot of people seem to be excited about the idea and would like to see the end result. I am at the final stages of taking pictures and all that is left is for me to think and work on the design of the book. I have not decided if i want to use color, black & white or color tints. I guess when i do make a sample version and get feedback from peers, it will help guide me.
ReplyDeleteToday, i showed two possible spreads with three different versions to my class group. The aim of this was to get others input and i grateful for the comments from my group.
Basically, my project deals with taking pictures from the front, right, back, and left side of a specific location i am at during a particular o'clock hour.
The sample spreads i showed was of three pictures from the left, and the other spread was of three pictures from the back. However, my group members seemed a little confuse with how i presented the pictures because the three collections were taken at different times (1am, 2am & 3am) yet to them it appeared that the pictures were taken in the same hour just at different places.
As a result, i mentioned to them that my original idea was to show the collection of images taken in one hour such as all the four images taken at 1am and use one spread for the 1am pictures, another spread for the 2am pics, and so on.
My only doubts on that is that i feel after the first five, it will appear boring and repetitive. When i look through photobooks, i love the anticipation of not knowing how the upcoming images are going to be formatted. Therefore, i will need to really think of creative ways to keep the viewer's attention and keep them from skimming through the book because they got bored. After all this is a semi journal showing the viewer my surroundings at all times of the day and so i would love them to go through and see a brief history of what i was observing.
Hopefully when i present to the rest of the class next week, i will get more feedback that can guide me to creative ways/forms to use.
SLP Final Decision!!!
ReplyDeleteMy Alphabetical Life...
Firstly, i love the title which sounds fun and appealing which is what i plan to do with this project. With only about 3 weeks of classes left, i have decided to totally scratch off my 24 hours in 24 days project. Why? My main reason is formatting issues. I tried various styles but somehow i didnt seem satisfied. However, i do plan to eventually complete that projects but it would have to me in my own time because i did put a lot of time into is and would eventually like to see the end result..
Secondly, this new project is also personal and somehow a journal too. This is because i am going to use the alphabet and find words linked to me personally and associated with a specific letter. So far;
A = Arsenal (best football (soccer) team)
B = Breaks (spring, summer, winter)
C = Cousins (coz i have a lot)
There will be some letters that will use an entire spread such as P for my Parents, F for my Friends etc, whilst the other letters will only take up a page.
Thirdly, in regards to format, i am considering making the book as a magazine type so i can be more playful with text by having a title, captions and possibly a couple of sentences about some of the images. However not all the letters are going to be in that same format because some i want the picture to serve as the text by explaining to the viewer what is being depicted.
Finally, Colby advised me to be more arty/crafty in regards to my text used. As much as there are various fonts available, being creative and constructing my own font style also contributes to personalizing the book which is what i am aiming for.
